Lockdown in South Africa – Day 94 – Share Your World

Lockdown continues and cigarettes are still illegal.  However, those who simply must smoke are paying up to R200 for a packet of 20 on the black market.  Sadly the quality of such cigarettes are poor and will probably kill those who indulge in them.  The purpose of banning them is to protect the citizens but it is having the opposite effect.  When will the powers that be realise that you cannot take away free choice!

Hair salons are now open.  Restaurants can serve tables.   Life is slowly becoming normal again but we are far from stopping the spread!

It is Monday so time for Share Your World from Sparks.

Must we have evidence to know the truth?

It depends on what kind of truth you are talking about.   We all see things from different perspectives so what is true to me might not seem true to you.   We should all, however, hold onto our own truth.

How much control does a person have over their life?

Ideally, we should have total control over our lives but that is not always possible.  We do however have total control on how we handle what is dealt to us.  I think some people do not realise how much control they have if only they would take it.

What is gravity and how does it work?

I don’t really know but it is a natural phenomenon that attracts all things toward each other.   Its power is different depending on where in the universe you are so it is not as powerful on the moon as it is on earth.

This question is too scientific for me to answer in detail.  Perhaps Spark wants us to give an amusing answer?   I don’t have one!

Can a person be happy if they have never experienced sadness?  How about vice versa?

My husband is always happier in retrospect but when he is in the moment he tends not to realise how happy he is.  Ask him tomorrow how today went and you’ll get a happy answer.  Ask him about the future and it will be bleak!

I, on the other hand, tend to look on the bright side all the time.  Of course, I get sad but I don’t think experiencing sadness causes my current happiness or vice-versa.  But maybe it does.  I’ve just never thought about that.  I tend to take one minute at a time and deal with my emotions as they arise.

Gratitude:

Please feel free to share a song, a poem, a quote or an image or photo to show what you were grateful for during this past week.    (Optional as always).

I am grateful that we are still COVID free in Struisbaai.

  2. I agree with your response to the control question: it is up to us to make the best of whatever situation we find ourselves in.
